Intro to James: Talk is Cheap
Intro to James: Talk is Cheap
Talk is cheap. Or so the saying goes. The significant distance between what we say and what we do is an unfortunate reality for most of us. We intend to do the right thing, but give in and do the wrong thing. We say we are religious, but focus mostly on ourselves. We say we care about the less fortunate, but spend our time and energy paying attention to the rich and famous.
You know what isn’t cheap? Faith. According to the Bible, faith is the most precious and durable substance we can have. In the midst of trials, temptations, and trouble, faith holds us up, keeps us strong, and gives us joy.
The book of James was a letter written to Christians by the brother of Jesus. It’s a challenging text- it gets in our face and asks us to take a good look in the mirror. It tells us to replace our talk with action. It commands us to let our trust in God guide us, instead of our selfish desires. Talk is cheap, but faith is priceless. Join us as we learn together about how to grow our faith.
