Two-day delivery isn’t a miracle, but to the ancient mind it certainly would have seemed so. Advent reminds us of a far greater deliverance—God taking people out of darkness and bringing them into light. Matthew tells the story of generations longing for a Messiah who would truly set them free. Jesus arrives as the ultimate deliverer, freeing us not from empire, but from our sin.
Peace and mutual edification – supporting one another. When was the last time you gathered with a group of people for a sustained period and those words were applicable? Ultimately one of the hallmarks of a healthy church is that its members can “disagree well” with each other.
‘The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart.’ God’s presence and truth are accessible because of Jesus. We don’t need to climb any mountain to find Him—He has come near, inviting us into His family through faith and confession that Jesus is Lord.
